Who we are

Hithertu Ltd is the controller of personal information handled through hithertu.com and the products and websites we operate under the Elsewright label, including Jamdoku.

Hithertu Ltd is registered in England and Wales under company number 16485121. Our registered office is 2–4 Gladstone Place, Newton Abbot, Devon, TQ12 2AW, England. Privacy enquiries can be sent to contact@hithertu.com.

Information we handle

When you visit our websites

Our web servers may record technical request information such as IP address, browser or device type, requested page, response status and date and time. We use this to deliver and secure the sites and diagnose faults.

Our static websites do not currently use advertising trackers, optional analytics or non-essential cookies.

When you contact us

We receive your email address, name if you provide it, the contents of your message and the information needed to answer it. Please do not send passwords, Google Play purchase tokens or other secrets by email.

When you use Jamdoku

Depending on the features you use, we may handle a pseudonymous Jamdoku account identifier; device, session and security identifiers; subscription status and transaction references supplied through Google Play; puzzle progress and preferences; generated challenges and multiplayer activity; and technical diagnostics.

We receive subscription status, product information and transaction references from Google Play when you purchase, renew, cancel or restore a subscription. Google Play is the source of these categories of information.

Legacy account features may also hold an account name and a securely processed password credential. Google Play Billing does not provide us with the Gmail address belonging to a purchaser, and we do not use a Gmail address to identify a Jamdoku account.

When you use challenges or multiplayer features, the other players involved may see information such as a player name you choose, challenge content, game status and results. Do not use a player name that reveals information you do not wish to share.

We do not ask you to provide special-category information through Jamdoku. Please avoid including sensitive personal information in player names, challenges, support messages or other free-text fields.

Why we use it

We process information only where we have a lawful reason:

  • To provide a service or perform a contract: operating accounts, subscriptions, puzzles, challenges and multiplayer features; restoring purchases; and providing requested support.
  • For our legitimate interests: keeping products secure and reliable, preventing abuse and fraud, diagnosing faults, improving performance and keeping proportionate business records.
  • To meet legal obligations: maintaining records required for tax, accounting, consumer protection, disputes and lawful requests.
  • With consent: if we introduce an optional feature that genuinely requires consent, we will ask first and provide a way to withdraw it.

Information needed to provide features

Account, session and security information is necessary to provide account-based, challenge and multiplayer features. Subscription status and transaction-reference information is necessary to provide paid features and restore purchases. If we cannot process that information, the relevant features may not be available. Information used only for an optional feature is not required to use unrelated parts of the service.

Automated decisions

We do not currently make decisions about individuals based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

We do not sell personal information, use it to build advertising profiles or use it for direct marketing.

Sharing and international transfers

We share information only where needed with service providers that supply hosting, email, security and technical infrastructure; with Google in connection with Google Play distribution and billing; with professional advisers; or where disclosure is required by law.

Some providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where UK data-protection law requires it, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or an appropriate safeguard for the particular transfer. Contact contact@hithertu.com for further information about a relevant transfer mechanism or to request a copy of the applicable safeguards. Providers process information under their own terms where they act independently, such as Google Play’s handling of a customer’s Google account and payment method.

How long we keep information

We keep information only for as long as its purpose reasonably requires. The period depends on the type of record and may include:

  • account, gameplay and service information while an account is active and for the period needed to close it safely;
  • support correspondence while an enquiry is open and for a proportionate period afterwards;
  • security and server logs for limited operational periods;
  • billing, tax, fraud-prevention and dispute records for the period required by law or reasonably needed to establish or defend legal claims; and
  • deleted information in backups until those backups are overwritten through their normal cycle.

Where we no longer need information in identifiable form, we delete it or remove the link to the individual account.

Your right to object

Where we rely on legitimate interests, you may object to our use of your personal information. We will consider your circumstances and stop the relevant processing unless we have compelling legitimate grounds to continue or need the information to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

We do not currently use personal information for direct marketing.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to access, correct or erase your personal information; restrict or object to its use; receive certain information in a portable form; and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. These rights are not absolute and exemptions may apply.

Send a request to contact@hithertu.com. We may ask for information reasonably needed to locate the relevant records and verify that you control the account concerned. We will respond without undue delay and normally within one month.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concern first.

For the Jamdoku-specific process, see Account deletion.

Changes to this notice

We will update this notice when our products or processing change materially. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
